Master Mike began his Martial Arts career in 1982 at the Villari's Self Defense Center in Portland, Maine.  He achieved the rank of First Degree Black Belt in 1986.
Mike taught the Villari's Shaolin Kempo system at several schools in Maine, from 1986 - 1994.

From 1994 - 2004, Master Mike was the co-owner of the Villari's Self Defense Center in Scarborough, Maine.

Master Mike completed the Villari's Instructor Program in 1987.

In November 2007, Master Mike was promoted to 7th Degree Black Belt by Grandmaster Frederick J Villari.

Master Beth began taking classes in 1994  at the Scarborough Villari's Self Defense Center under the instruction of her brother Master Mike Johnson. She received her First Degree Black Belt in 2000.

Since 2000 she has taught in several studios teaching Shaolin Kempo Karate, Cardio Kickboxing and Woman's Self Defense classes.

Master Beth has a certificate in early childhood development and has taught at Head Start and several other day cares.

Master Beth was promoted to 5th Degree Black Belt in 2010
